What Is Digital Embossing?

What Is Digital Embossing?

In the Print Industry there are more and more ways of making your print have impact with the target market. The latest sensation is Digital Embossing. But what is Digital Embossing? Here's a definition.

Digital Embossing is a post print process which applies a high build varnish patented ink jet technology.

The varnish is flash cured to form a hard crystal clear raise. Digital embossing gives a finish which may initially be compared to spot UV varnishing. But it is better, ten times better, because the ‘lift’ is more than 500 microns (0.5mm) which gives the effect of embossing your work.

So essentially Digital Embossing is a technique that can raise parts of an image on something such as a leaflet so that it has a raised texture when you touch it. This can be applied as a great marketing tool for campaigns that use printed materials.

For example in the Picture below the basketball is digitally embossed so little circles are raised so that the print has the same texture as a real Basketball. Also on this example the water droplets are raised to give the effect of water droplets on the page.

The scope for creativity is huge with Digital Embossing and it really does add another dimension to your printed marketing campaigns.

Are you using your Print Materials to drive Web Traffic?

In this blog we are going to explore the 2 best ways of driving internet traffic to your social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook as well as your own website using your printed materials such as Leaflets and Business Cards.

1. Including Your Links on your Printed Materials:

By adding the various URL's to your printed material it is cutting out the need for people to search for you on sites such as google and therefore it is delivering traffic straight to your website. Always include Links to your Twitter, Facebook and even your Linkedin page on all Business Cards & Leaflets to let people know you are there.

2. Create a QR Code and add it to your Printed Materials

If you don't know what a QR Code is then i will explain it simply. A QR code is a barcode that can be scanned by a Smart Phone such as a iphone. When the QR Code is scanned it takes you directly to your website. To create a QR code go to www.qrcode.kaywa.com/ There are free apps such as QR Reader for iphone that can be used to scan QR Codes.
So the Benefit of a QR code is that it takes people directly to your website without having to put in the web address yourself. The benefits for this on a flyer are obvious. If you have a special offer you can create a QR Code which links to this offer, making it much easier for customers to order direct from your Website. You can also use QR codes to Link to your social Media sites such as Twitter & Facebook.

These are a couple of ways to increase Traffic to your website throught Printed Materials. For more info on this give us a ring on 01202 882277 or wing us a comment below.

Make Sure Your Business Cards Stand Out

In this post i am going to outline the best ways to make your Business Card stand out by avoiding the the most common pitfalls associated with Business Card Design.

A Business Card is often reffered to as a silent salesperson, and if a business card is acting as a Salesperson for your business the appearance of the card needs to be right if someone is going to remember you for the right reasons.

There are a number of factors that can dampen the effect of your Business Card, such as:

  • Having a Card that Blends in with All the Rest
  • Having a Business Card that does'nt make what Your Company does Clear
  • Not Providing a Unique Selling Proposition
  • Using an Oversized Card
  • Print that is too Small
  • A Cluttered Card
  • Inadequate or Poor Use of Color

So to maximise the effect of your Business Card make sure you avoid the pitfalls above.

But above all the success of a Business Card not only depends on effective design but amount that you hand out! So to make the most out of your Business Card make sure you get to as many many networking events as possible to expand your contacts!
